Avoiding Legal Issues Involving Cookie Consent and Privacy Laws

GDPR and cookie consent laws. how to be compliant and not have your website sued.

The purpose of this video is to inform you about some changes in the digital landscape that involve businesses online using cookies, tracking, and collecting customer data. European laws known as GDPR have required all businesses to disclose all cookies and tracking used on their sites and allow users to opt out of all tracking if desired. However, things are changing even more.

While these laws have only applied to certain businesses operating in Europe, the U.S. has now introduced the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). This requires businesses to disclose information about cookie tracking on their websites and allow users to opt out. Additionally, the recent Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA) has similar requirements but includes additional provisions that will take effect in the coming months.

To comply with these regulations, businesses must have clear cookie policies and privacy policies that outline how personal data is collected, used, and stored. Starting in January 2025, businesses will be required to provide users with the ability to opt out of data collection.

We have already seen clients facing legal threats due to non-compliance. To address this issue, we have partnered with CookieYes to provide a discounted solution.
